World Anthropological Union Congress in Guatemala

In her presentation, “Refugee as a Guest: Private Hosting of Ukrainian War Refugees in Poland,” Natalia Bloch presented the results of our research at the World Anthropological Union (WAU) Congress, which took place in Antigua, Guatemala, on 3–8 November 2025. The paper was part of the panel “World on the Move – Reframing Perspectives on Migration and Displacement,” chaired by Prof. Ed Liebow and Prof. Francesca Declich.

In addition, Natalia Bloch co-organized, together with Dr Cristina Oehmichen Bazán from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the panel “Mobility Regimes, Hospitality, and Tourism Labour: Migrants, Refugees, and the Displaced within Privileged Mobilities,” and took part as a discussant in the roundtable “Moving Hermeneutics: Assessing the Conceptual Frontiers in Studies of Movement,” organized by the Commission on Migration of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences.
